Yorkshire Trade Binders (YTB) has stepped up its capacity with an £150,000 investment in a 12-station, 18-clamp Wohlenberg Golf perfect binder.
The Leeds-based company said the secondhand kit has helped it to offer quicker lead times and increased its production availability. Director Dave Lowthorpe said: "This kit effectively doubles our capacity with ambitious plans to go to longer hours early in the New Year."It will also help the £200,000-turnover business increase its focus in the B1 and B2 commercial markets, as well as the perfect binding sector. YTB has plans to invest in another line later on in the year and the five-staffed company said it would be looking to recruit later in the year.In addition to the investment, YTB has taken on Dave Richards as sales director.Richards previously worked for a print consultancy in the area.He said: "Our aims for the year are to increase turnover to £500,000 by the end of 2009, increase our production hours and move up to bigger and broader markets, which I am actively pursuing. "It is a scary time for many in the industry, although the printers that survive will reap the benefits for the long term."Richards also said the company is one of the only few independent binding companies in the area, which offers it a "huge benefit".
