Mail & Print Services (MPS) has upped staff levels by a third after landing a £500,000 digital mailing contract with Dumex, part of Cow & Gate.
The Somerset direct mail company has taken on new employees to handle extra demand for the contract, which involves producing work for Asia and Australasia.
The campaign has required MPS to use XMPie software to create 20 different versions of a digital mailer and output more than 15,000 PDFs a week to printers in Thailand and Singapore.
Each mailer was given a five-day turnaround and contained more than 120 variable images.
Rob Fagnani, founder of MPS, spent six months in Asia researching the customs of the countries in which MPS would later operate.
He said: "We are using different print partners in Thailand and Singapore, so we can split quantities if required, as well as give the client contingency.
"We’ve gone back to basics and realise that during a downturn, clients require us to go the extra mile. We’ve got to react to the market and increase our workforce accordingly."
