Wyndeham retains 18 Bauer magazines in print tender
Wyndeham has retained 18 Bauer Consumer Media titles following its sale to Walstead Invesments this week, as Southernprint and St Ives emerged as the key beneficiaries of the eagerly anticipated tender for the former Emap consumer titles.
The tender finalisation, which was delayed as the company awaited the outcome of negotiations over the future of Wyndeham, has resulted in Cooper Clegg losing all of its titles, with Wyndeham retaining 18 of its 20 magazines. Debbie Read, Bauer group production director, said: This process involved some difficult decisions in a difficult commercial market. We want to work with suppliers with a secure future. Under the new arrangements, Southernprint will print 11 titles and receive the most income from Bauer work, having won More and Empire from Cooper Clegg. The printer previously produced nine titles for the publisher including Mojo.
Charles Jarrold, managing director of Southernprint, said: "This tender comes off the back of a successful relationship with Bauer and is a real vote of confidence in Southernprint."
St Ives has gained five titles, including two motoring titles from Wyndeham and music magazine Q, taking its tally to 11. FHM will be printed at a Bauer site in Germany.Despite the tender, Read said that she was already in talks with Cooper Clegg managing director John Wood regarding another project.
The gravure and coldset tenders are ongoing.
